About

Washparkbiz.com originated in an effort to allow people

doing business in one of Denver’s finest neighborhoods to have

their story relayed to those who live, play and shop in the

Washington Park area.

The mission of our website is to give this community a

smaller feel by highlighting stories that make its people as

interesting as Washington Park itself.

We encourage input about business people and about

characters that make the area thrive!

SNL (Scott & Linda)

We met in October of 2005 on Old South Pearl Street.

What started out as a set-up via a mutual friend for coffee at Stella’s, ended up with mojitos at Lola’s across the street.  July 14th, 2009  will be the 2nd anniversary of our wedding in Pine, CO.  We couldn’t have picked a more picturesque setting for our special day and it was also a great way to introduce the mountains that we love to our relatives who traveled from out of state.

Linda is from Springfield, MO and a graduate of Kickapoo High Schooland the University of Missouri – Columbia. She graduated in 1994 and has spent the last 14 years as a Respiratory Therapist at Porter Hospital in Denver.  Linda loves skiing, snowshoeing and hiking – she credits that love for bringing her to Colorado right after graduation. Her parents still live in Springfield and her Dad keeps busy at their farm in Conway, Missouri.  Both her Mom and Dad are active in the Lutheran Church in her hometown.

I was born in Huntington on Long Island and called Smithtown and Levittown home before starting a series of moves to Colorado and back at age 8. After my parents divorced I spent 4 years in my Mom’s hometown of Rochester, NY (most of my family still lives there) but moved back here to attend Alameda Jr. and Sr. High in the early 80’s where I was the school paper’s sports columnist.  In ‘94 I earned my Business degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver. I rekindled my love of the print media while working for the Herald Dispatch in SW Denver a decade ago. My interest in writing profiles grew as a result of freelancing for the publication National Short Track. I mainly wrote features on drivers in Colorado National Speedway’s top division, which is one of the country’s most entertaining group of late model drivers! I have a strong passion for cars and anything that involves them- I have hopes of eventually incorporating a section on this site to tell tales of cars hidden in Wash Park garages ( in-plain-sight ones also) . Chevrolet Impalas of the 1960s are by far my favorite and I look forward to the day when I own another 1966!

For the past eight years I have worked with a company that has marketed The Denver Post . I enjoy the unconventional working arrangement it affords me in the pursuit of setting this site to sail.
